On March 11, 1891 William J. Hill married Blanche L. Spielman at St. Paul's Church in Los Angeles, California. At 42, this was William's second marriage since his first wife, Sarah Jane (McClintock) Hill had passed away in 1890 leaving him with five children; Robert, Samuel, Jannie, Lizzie and Annie. Blanche was 21 and had been originally hired to be the Hill children's nanny.
